Privacy Policy

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to everyone who uses Sidechained — our website, our desktop and mobile apps, and the transcription and AI services behind them. It explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

2. Who controls your information

Sidechained is the controller of your personal information. If you have a question about this policy or how your data is handled, write to support@sidechained.app or takudzwa@sidechained.app.

3. What information we collect

We collect only what the service needs to work:

• Account details — your name and email, provided through sign-in.
• The recordings you capture or upload, and the transcripts, summaries and notes produced from them.
• Your language preferences and settings.
• Subscription and billing metadata. Card details are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us.
• Basic technical and activity data — such as IP address and device type — used to keep the service secure.

4. How we collect information

Directly from you when you create an account, record, upload, or edit; through Kinde when you sign in; and from payment events when you subscribe. We do not buy personal information about you from third parties.

5. Why we use information

To provide and maintain the service (to perform our contract with you), to keep it secure and improve it (our legitimate interests), to meet legal obligations, and where you have given consent.

Your recordings and content are never used to train public AI models. Processing happens on private instances bound by data-processing terms.

6. Sharing and hosting

We share data only with the providers that run the service: Kinde for authentication, Dodo Payments for billing, and Hetzner for hosting. Your account data and recordings are stored in the European Union on infrastructure certified to ISO 27001 and SOC 2. On our public website we also use PostHog (hosted in the United States) to understand how visitors use the site, and Meta to measure our advertising — see section 8. We do not sell your personal information, and we disclose it to authorities only where legally compelled.

7. Payments

Subscriptions are handled by Dodo Payments, which processes your payment directly. We receive confirmation and billing metadata, never your full card details.

8. Cookies and sessions

Inside the app we use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in. Your recordings, transcripts, and notes are never sent to analytics or advertising providers.

On our public landing page we use analytics and advertising cookies: PostHog records how visitors use the page (pages viewed, clicks, scrolling, and session replays with form fields masked), and the Meta Pixel tells us which of our Facebook and Instagram ads brought you to the site. We also keep a first-party cookie noting which campaign or referral brought you to us. You can block or clear these cookies in your browser settings without affecting your use of Sidechained.

9. Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Your recordings are yours — you can rename, export, or delete them at any time, and deletion removes them from our active systems. When you close your account we delete or anonymise your data, except where we must keep it to meet a legal obligation.

10. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@sidechained.app or takudzwa@sidechained.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we will note it here and update the date below.
